Nature Education Field trips

Biodiversity, Nature education, Nature Conservation, Sustainable development are today’s buzzwords. Our country has a treasure of natural resources, most of which are over utilized and destroyed e.g. mangroves; or under utilized - such as plants which can be used as medicine. This is largely due to over-population, and ignorance about these natural resources. Before it’s too late, we need to take measures to save this wealth of our mother land, our natural resources.

One of the easiest ways to do so, is to educate young minds at an early stage. If we inculcate the values and importance of nature in young minds, while they are receptive, fresh and unpolluted, we would achieve this goal. Once they learn to appreciate this biological wealth, its utility and management, for their future, they will look after nature themselves.

St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai takes the lead in this endeavor of educating young minds. The Blatter Herbarium organizes Nature Education Field Trips to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai and camps to Khandala for school children during the Monsoons.
