ABSTRACT

Allelo chemicals were extracted from the leaves of Croton sparsiflorus using
various solvent systems. The plants of Tinospora cardifolia and Ruellia tuberosa were
treated with various extract fractions thus obtained; various growth parameters viz.,
carbohydrate content, protein content and chlorophyll content formed the parameters of
the study of bio-efficacy. It was observed that the allelo-chemicals interfere with the
growth, development and performance of a plant through their effect directly on
metabolism. Many physiological parameters get altered by these chemicals.
